Here and Here Zine
I've been wanting to make this zine for
a while now. It's a collection of a bunch of abstract drawings
from my sketchbooks. I wrote a loose story to bring them all
together. Lots on growth, explosions, cycles and organisms.
It's printed by 1984 Printing in Oakland who uses soy
inks and recycled papers. 32 pages, 8 x 5.5 inches, offset
printing with brown ink. See some sample
This last couple of weeks I've been
fortunate enough to be able to work in nearby woodshop. Thanks
to my new friends at NOOKTU plus
all the other guys in the shop. This sculpture will be sent off
to the Armory
Show to be shown with

This is a new company out of Chicago making
custom iPhone cases. They've got lots of great artists to make
iPhone cases with and the best thing is you can do the design
work yourself. You
can play around with my images here.

and sculptures. Some things I do on my spare time. Take

Heller Gallery, Santa Monica, presents Places
Between Here and Here, a solo
exhibition of works by Stockholm, Sweden based artist Brendan
Monroe. The show will
consist of a body of paintings on paper, a large wall installation
on paper and a large
hanging sculptural installation out of wood. The title, Places
Between Here and Here, is
meant to be about going to other places without ever really
going anywhere, like into
ones own thoughts or dreams. The title also conversely refers
to the idea of going to
somewhere completely different and returning to the place
where you began.
Monroe received his B.F.A. from the Art Center College of
Design in 2004. He is co-
represented by Faye Fleming & Partner in Geneva, Switzerland.
Brendan recently moved
from Berkeley, CA to Stockholm, Sweden to live with his wife
Eva Fan who is enrolled
in a graduate program there.
